FOREIGN ATHLETES
All foreign athletes must comply with World Athletics rules. Foreign athletes must be able to produce a letter from their respective federation permitting them to participate on race day.
42.2km 2022 TRACN4 ELANDS MARATHON.
This event has been approved as a qualifier for Comrades 2022, and this route is the fastest qualifier which has now been brought back onto the racing calendar!
Athletes for the 42km must be 20 years or older on the day of the race. Proof of age (ID) to be produced upon request on day of race.
The TRACN4 Elands Marathon, will be hosted under strict COVID-19 compliance procedures to ensure that every person can enjoy a safe event.
A COVID-19 start will see runners setting off in a batched group, allowing for ample social distancing, from 06h30. MASKS are required on busses and at the Start and also once you arrive at the Finish. A Tog bag collection point is available at the start. Tog bags will be transported to the Finish. Please safeguard you Tog bag Ticket.
These processes will ensure that we remain below the official gathering regulations of Modified Level 1 and that you are adequately social distanced from one another. Numbers will be colour coded to ensure the runner enters the correct batch on race day.
The 2022 TRACN4 Elands Marathon will be timed using:
1. Gun to Mat for any position and prize money.
Start of 2022 TRACN4 Elands Marathon is at Laerskool Oosterlijn in Emgwenya (Waterval Boven) at 6h30 am. Finish is at the Sappi Skills Training Centre. Race Cut-off is 6 hours! Comrades qualifier cut-off is under 4 hours 50 minutes. Route cut-off times are 9.30 at the 21k and 11.30 at the 10k marks. See Route profile below !
Busses depart from Ngodwana to the start for runners requiring transport. You need to add this bus ticket (R40) to your entry. Busses depart Ngodwana from 04h30, with last bus at 05h15. Parking is available at the Sappi Skills Training Centre.
All athletes will participate at their own risk.

LIVE RACES.
The races will be run according to the rules of AMPU, ASA and WA (IAAF). No seconding will be allowed.
All participants must wear a suitable face mask on arrival at the venue. No person will be permitted to enter the demarcated areas without a face mask. The mask must be worn onboard the buses as well as the start & finish areas. The mask may be removed during the run only, but must be replaced at the Finish.
Athletes, entering for this event, and who use medication to treat an illness or condition which falls under the Prohibited List, should complete a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) form before entering for the event and obtain authorization from SAIDS to take the needed medicine or method.
Registered athletes must wear full club colours. You do not need to be a member of a registered club, any individual can enter and run as an unlicensed athlete.
You will however need to purchase a temporary license. Temporary numbers must be worn on the back of the vest.
Licensed athletes license-numbers must be worn on the front and back of the vest. Official Race numbers must be worn on the front of the vest, below the top part of ASA.
Age category ID tags must be worn (back and front) by athletes competing for a category prize AND must be fixed on the vest (all 4 corners).
Walkers must have a fixed "W" on the vest to qualify for any prizes.
Entry Includes : Medal, Electronic Tag on Race Bib, Temporary Licence (If Required) and a Wristband, (which is your Bus Ticket )
Ongoing Pandemic Cancellation.
If the race is cancelled due to an ongoing Pandemic, there will be NO refunds, but the race will be converted to a Virtual race.
A No-refund policy will apply.
In the event of another COVID-19 lockdown, the race will automatically downgrade to a Virtual Race. T-Shirts, Medals, and race Numbers will still be available to athlete as per entry details.
